Community Engagement Highlighted Through Tampa Kiwanis StoryWalk Experiences

TAMPA, FL – Tampa Kiwanis President-Elect, Audrey Miller, shares her heartfelt appreciation and involvement in the StoryWalk Project, which continues to foster literacy, connection, and community spirit among families and youth across the region.

“I genuinely enjoyed assisting with the original installation of posts that hold the StoryWalk encasings at Al Lopez Park—the very first StoryWalk location in the area,” said Miller. “It was fulfilling to be part of something that blends outdoor activity with literacy and imagination.”

The joy continued this past spring when Miller accompanied her granddaughter and the Jack & Jill Nature Coast, Inc. chapter to visit the StoryWalk at Carrollwood Village Park on April 12, 2025. The group, made up of children ages 6 to 10 and their parents, embraced the walk’s message of reading and engagement with great enthusiasm.

“We turned the outing into a full day of literacy-based fun,” she added. “Before heading to the park, we enjoyed arts and crafts activities at the Jimmie B. Keel Regional Library. The children were inspired and engaged from start to finish.”

Looking ahead, Miller hopes to turn these experiences into a recurring tradition. “I plan to make this a Grandma-Granddaughter project this coming Fall,” she shared. “And who knows—maybe the same group of children and families can help support future installations or events. Just a thought!”
